For the second year in a row, in 2019 Lakewood Ranch was the best-selling master-planned community in the nation. With an astounding total of 1,655 new homes sold (an increase of 12% over 2018), there’s no sign that the popularity of new homes for sale in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, will decline anytime soon. If you’re wondering why so many people want to live in Lakewood Ranch, here are just a few of the reasons people love this world-renowned community.
With lush landscaping, miles of tree-lined trails and walking paths, and acres of luxurious parks and golf courses, it’d be easy to think of Lakewood Ranch as a city of millionaires. The reality, however, is quite different. While there are plenty of luxury homes for sale in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, with values into the millions of dollars, there are homes and condos for sale at all price points. New families just starting out can find unlimited options in the low 200s, and—with no state tax—it’s the perfect destination for those seeking a retirement home as well.
Lakewood Ranch was planned with the whole community in mind, so it’s not just a series of neighborhoods connected by streets. Many neighborhoods, or “Villages,” offer large amenity centers with resort pools, fitness centers, tennis, pickleball, and even kayak storage. Lakewood Ranch Country Club’s main clubhouse contains over 44,000 square feet of space, including casual and fine dining. There is also a 20,000-square-foot modern fitness center, and a tennis center with 20 courts. The amenity center at LakeHouse Cove, in Lakewood Ranch Waterside, even includes a sunset viewing lawn and its own boathouse.
The designers of Lakewood Ranch have always appreciated the importance of enjoying the great outdoors and preserving the environment. With that in mind, residents are able explore 150 miles of interconnected trails and walking paths spread out amid 7,000 acres of parks, lakes, and natural preserves.
When you live in Lakewood Ranch, you feel like you’re part of a small town, and nowhere is this more evident than on Main Street. A walkable, friendly street, Main Street feels more like a small Midwestern town than the primary town center of a master-planned community. The wide variety of food and entertainment options makes it easy to spend the day just wandering the shops and enjoying the weather. You can see a movie, play miniature golf, partake in some fine dining, or just go for a stroll. On the first Friday of every month Main St. is blocked off from cars, vendors set up tents, and featured bands play in the street for Music on Main.
Being close to three major cities has a lot of perks. You can be in downtown Sarasota in 20 minutes, downtown St. Petersburg in 40 minutes, and downtown Tampa in 60 minutes. The options for dining, arts and every kind of entertainment are endless. Need to fly? Sarasota Airport is 20 minutes away, and Tampa International is just an hour. All of the sites of Florida’s Gulf Coast are easily accessible from your quiet suburban neighborhood, so you get all the benefits of big-city living, but without all the hassle and congestion. You can be on a white sand beach in as little as 20 minutes.

The gorgeous natural landscape spans the entire Lakewood Ranch community. 150 miles of trails, paths and walkways connect residents’ homes to outdoor spaces, as well as indoor spaces where individuals and groups come together to celebrate or just have a good time. These trails will likewise connect you to recreational facilities, shopping centers, and town centers in other neighborhoods.

In fact, the multi-generational community has been chosen to be included in a landmark multi-generational research initiative that will study brain health globally. In addition, an expansion to the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has recently been completed.
Recently, the town added two community parks, two shopping centers, a town hall, sheriff sub-station, middle school, and 1.1M square feet of commercial property used to create 222 business and 2,361 additional jobs.
People come from all over the U.S. to purchase property in Lakewood Ranch and surrounding communities. Though many move from other cities in Florida, a steady flow of buyers also come from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and even California. Seventeen of the 19 villages, two of which are 55+, are actively selling homes. Kolter’s Cresswind, The Palisades, and Woodleaf Hammock are some of the recent additions to the multi-gen community. There are a lot of people out there who believe that purchasing a home has too many risks. They don’t understand the real estate market, or they find the purchasing process to be too complicated, so they continue to rent and live at the mercy of a landlord. What they don’t realize is that homeownership has a lot of advantages, and, in most cases, purchasing the right home is a better financial decision in the long term. Homes for sale in Lakewood Ranch, FL, are likely to rise in value over the years, and purchasing a property in this growing location now could help a buyer create a comfortable financial position in future. If you’re interested in learning more about the advantages of homeownership, you’ve come to the right place! Here are a few reasons why it’s better to buy…
We touched on this in the introduction, but this point is worth expanding on. Purchasing a home is one of the best long-term investments one can make. This is especially true in well-planned, growing communities, such as Lakewood Ranch, FL, and especially if you’re planning on owning the home for a long period of time. The real estate market is cyclical by nature, so there are more risks in short-term home ownership and in ventures such as flipping a home. However, owning a home for many years can prove to be a powerful financial decision since eventually you can take advantage of a hot market and sell at peak pricing. If you and your family are looking for a forever home and a great investment, Lakewood Ranch could be a perfect fit for you.
When you buy a home, you build equity as you pay off the mortgage. This is one of the key reasons why buying a home is a smarter financial decision than renting; you are paying your money into your own asset rather than a landlord’s. When homeowners make a mortgage payment, they are subtracting money they owe on the loan, while increasing their equity in the home at the same time. On the other hand, when you lease a home, you don’t have anything to show for it when you move out.
Homeownership will improve your credit history as well as help you build a higher credit score. Nothing says “responsible” like a homeowner who makes steady mortgage payments on time. As you continue to pay off your loan, your credit score will shine, allowing you to borrow more in the future. If you’re hoping to buy a car, boat, investment property, or any make any other major purchase, it will be a lot easier to pull off if you own a home and have a solid payment history.
Being a homeowner also gives you complete control over your home. If you want to paint a room, knock down a wall, install better appliances, paint your cabinets, or maybe add some landscaping, the choice is yours when you are the owner. You’re not restricted by a property management company, or landlord that’s too cheap or lazy to maintain the home himself. Whatever you imagine, your own home is your own blank canvas.
If you’re interested in becoming a homeowner and seeing some houses for sale in Lakewood Ranch, FL, it’s time to contact an agent. Call or email us today to start the process!

Buying or selling a home can be a stressful process, whether it be your first home or not. After all, it's one of the few major financial moves you'll make in your life. That's why it's best to enlist the help of a real estate agent. They'll arrange for and represent you in negotiations, ensuring that transactions go as smoothly and successfully as possible. It is important that you choose the right real estate agent that you feel comfortable with. So, if you need agent to find, or list homes for sale in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, here are some pointers to keep in mind.
Before poring over a list of agents, have a look around the area you want to move in or out of. Look at online real estate resources to explore local properties and find an experienced Realtor whom is familiar with the area. While there are posted signs and print ads for Realtors, searching online for homes for sale in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, can ensure you find local representation. A Realtor’s website will also share helpful details about a Realtor’s experience and similar properties.
You can also ask family, friends, or neighbors for referrals. They'll provide insights into what it's like to work with particular agents. Another way to spot a potential Realtor is to visit them at an open house where you can speak with them in person. You may also use this opportunity to observe how they interact with prospective buyers and how they treat their clients.
When talking with an agent in person, it's best to be clear with your expectations right from the get-go. Being transparent will help you to narrow down your options. Some pieces of information you need to share include your motivations for buying or selling a house, your property must-haves, and your desired sales strategy.
Before wrapping up the interview, ask agents if they can give you information on some deals they've handled in the past, along with a few references. Send them a message or call them to learn about their experience working with brokers and how effective they are at house hunting or putting up homes for sale. This will help you determine which ones can help you buy or sell a property.
Lastly, go with your gut feeling. If your intuition tells you that a particular agent is the real deal, go ahead and sign them on. In most cases, it's not about what the professional promises you but how they make you feel. If you find that you're comfortable working with them, there isn't much left to discuss.

Lakewood Ranch is getting a fresh addition to its arts culture with The Players Centre for Performing Arts. Originally located in downtown Sarasota, the acting school and company, first known under the name Players Theater, will build their campus in Waterside Place, Lakewood Ranch’s newest Town Center. Located in , the Town Center will also feature waterfront restaurants, shops, and a waterfront park. Those looking for a home for sale in Lakewood Ranch can look forward to benefiting from this wonderful asset to the community.
The Players Theater is one of the oldest performing arts organizations in Sarasota county. They first started as a group formed by Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin, owners of the Out-of-Door Academy, with some of their friends. They did this when looking for activities for their faculty, and found that that what the teachers were most interested in was theater.
The organization was formally founded in 1929. And, with the help of their 256 members who paid 2 dollars each for subscriptions, they promptly located the theater in a new building which was paid for with some of the proceeds. The theater was located at 9th Street and North Tamiami Trail. At the time, it could hold around 240 people, so as the troupe grew, a bigger venue was needed. In 1970, they erected the auditorium that would be their home for the next 50 years. This structure has a seating capacity for a crowd of 400.
Now, on the cusp of their 91st year together, their organization and audience have grown so much that the current center can no longer meet their needs. Sometimes, performances have to run as many as 15 times to meet demand. But, today, they're ready to move on to a bigger and better venue in Lakewood Ranch.
The $21-million Players Centre for Performing Arts will be built on a 4.5-acre lot in Waterside Place. There will be two stages instead of one in order to house multiple productions at the same time. The main auditorium will hold up to 488 people, with additional balcony seating available. There will also be a cabaret section with a dining area for 100 audience members, and a black box theater with 125 seats.
The campus will also have several lobby spaces for receptions, events, and galleries. The organization also plans to lend these facilities to other arts and culture groups in the area, this the addition of “Performing Arts” to the name.
With the new campus on the way, arts and culture in the area will flourish and reach new heights. We should see a wealth of new, quality local productions arise from the addition of the facility to the area. Area residents will also have access to professional instruction from professional writers, actors, and directors, nurturing the passion and skills of those who take advantage of this amazing community asset.
If you're a lover of the performing arts, consider when looking for your next home, most particularly in Waterside Lakewood Ranch. Contact Daniel Bacon at Fine Properties when you are ready by visiting www.lakewoodranchlife.com or calling us at (941) 330-7661
